In 2016, Policy Development Facility Phase II provided an Embedded Adviser to help Nigeria’s Ministry of Mines and Steel Development develop a roadmap for expanding the country’s mining industry. The roadmap aimed at creating an investor-friendly regulatory environment, developing a partnership approach involving stakeholders and communities, coordinating infrastructure investments and investment funding, and leveraging mining growth to catalyse development. The Embedded Adviser also facilitated capacity building and reorganisation with the ministry itself. This story of change describes how the roadmap and associated developments have helped the Nigerian mining sector grow by 87% quarter on quarter.
